Hello! I am Jessica Osanya, a Ph.D. candidate in Applied Economics at Oregon State University, currently on the 2025/26 job market. My research lies at the intersection of development economics, agricultural and food policy, and sustainability, with a focus on how evidence-based analysis can inform policies that reduce poverty and enhance food security.

My work applies quantitative methods, including computable general equilibrium (CGE) modeling and applied econometrics, to evaluate the impacts of policies and technological innovations. I have studied both social protection and agricultural transformation, such as the economywide effects of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and the potential contributions of industrial hemp to sustainable rural development in the United States.

My Job Market Paper draws on a randomized controlled trial (RCT) among smallholder farmers in Zambia to examine how feedback opportunities and in-person facilitation influence farmers’ engagement and sustained use of a digital extension platform.

I have published my research in the Journal of Agricultural and Applied Economics (JAAEA) and other peer-reviewed journals, and presented it at leading conferences including the Agricultural and Applied Economics Association (AAEA) Annual Meeting and the Global Trade Analysis Project (GTAP) Conference.
